Cervical disc disease is common in both young and elderly people. It may be preceded by sudden jerk in the neck or is due to degeneration of spine. It presents with pain in neck, shoulders and upper limbs. Sometimes there is instability in lower limbs due to spinal cord compression. MRI is the investigation of choice for diagnosis. If no relief with conservative treatment then surgery is required. Surgery is mainly done from the anterior part of neck. We had to remove the whole disc and replace with a spacer which can be patients own bone, PEEK cage, Mesh cage with plate etc. (As shown in the pictures) Cervical disc surgery has extremely good results in expert hands. I have an experience of more than thousand cases with excellent results.
